RIVIC Ralph was Director of Scientific Programmes for the One Wales Research Institute for Visual Computing.
Guest Professorships Ralph is a Guest Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Technology of Tsinghua University, China's top university for science and engineering. He is also a Guest Professor at the National University of Defence Technology, China, and Shandong University, China.
Friendship Award In 2014, Ralph was awarded the Friendship Award, China's highest award for foreign nationals.
SMA Pioneer In 2016, Ralph was awarded the title of Solid Modeling Pioneer by the Solid Modeling Associtaion.
Learned Society of Wales Ralph is a Fellow of the Learned Society of Wales.
CPHC / BCS Distinguished Dissertations Ralph is a Fellow of the BCS, and has been a member of the CPHC / BCS Distinguished Dissertations Panel which annually selects for publication the best British PhD / DPhil dissertations in computer science. Winning dissertations are available online.
IMA Mathematics of Surfaces Conferences Ralph is a Fellow of the IMA and helped organise many of its Mathematics of Surfaces conferences.
Editorial Board Memberships Ralph is Associate Editor-in-Chief of Computational Visual Media, and on the Editorial Boards of Computer Aided Design, Computer Aided Geometric Design, Graphical Models, and Computers & Graphics.

SPM'16 Ralph was on the Program Committee for the SPM'16 Conference on Geometric and Physical Modeling.
Reverse Engineering Ralph was coordinator of the RECCAD Project, which investigated reconstruction of boundary representation CAD models of solids from range data, and lead investigator on projects to 'beautify' reverse engineered solid models, and to reverse engineer reliefs. Ralph has given tutorials on reverse engineering at the ACM Solid Modeling'04 conference and the CAD'07 conference.
SHREC'14 Ralph was part of the team that organised the SHREC'14 Track for Shape Retrieval of Non-Rigid 3D Human Models with the aim of comparing various approaches, and which provided two benchmark datasets.
Sketch Input of Solid Models Ralph has worked on sketch input of solid models. Test sets of sketches of polyhedral models are available, devised by Peter Varley.
Djinn Ralph was a member of the Djinn team, developing a modeller independent API for solid modelling. The Djinn Specification and Report is available online; hardcopies are also available from me directly.
Cacti and Succulents Ralph grows cacti and succulents as a hobby. Here are some details, including photos of plants, a list of meetings of the South Wales Branch of the British Cactus and Succulent Society, and lists of plants for sale and of journals for sale. He is responsible for the well-known cactus and succulent field number database, and a related database of collectors acronyms. Searches can also be made for field numbers corresponding to a given species or locality.
